Welsh Power is a leading developer and operator of gas-fuelled reserve power plants in the UK. Its generation sites are operated remotely and supply power to the grid when instructed.

How it works
Trading and dispatch run on the same platform. Every contract Welsh Power trades, across each service, is managed in Response and mapped to the sites that will deliver it, so trading decisions go straight to dispatch without a separate hand-off between the commercial and control teams.
Services are dispatched to each of Welsh Power’s sites from the Response Cloud server, which connects over dual-redundant links to Response Site units. The Site units handle control, alarms and monitoring on each site and can operate autonomously if needed.
The cloud server hosts dashboards for the whole portfolio. Engineering and commercial teams each choose the dashboards they need, so people can make informed decisions quickly and keep performance high.

A modular, centralised system that Welsh Power operates and manages efficiently from its Cardiff headquarters: reliable, flexible and scalable as the portfolio grows.
